It is your absence by day

I feel the most

a hollow reminder,

a space you once filled.

At night

it is a longing to touch,

to hold you near me,

your voice

a soothing breeze

haunting my memory.
...and yet I must
follow my heart,
my quest
goes ever on...

Blood & Persecution

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

Where is the shame?
Who is to blame?

For all our ancient

Are we but wolves
out for the slaughter?

for all humanity
must feel the pain

to have come
so far
only to end
where we began

with the blood
dripping off the hands of our beloved forefathers
and onto ours.

The complete the perfect circle

of endless persecution,
of those as different from us
as they are similar.

The power of
delusional minds demanding
sacrifices of the
lives of our children
scorched in the fires
of blazing idolatry

bowing to the false Gods
and man-made images.

That feel the shame,

and cannot turn away

from the horror

that is in us all.
